Workshop Description: (all levels welcome)
Con traducción al castellano si es requerido.
Sanskrit and Chanting
Chanting is the original means of transformation that yoga delivers, tuning the body and mind through sound vibration. Through the use of chanting mantras and the sanskrit alphabet we’ll explore the inner form of yoga as defined by Patañjali in the yoga sutras.
Sanskrit is the oldest most continually used language in the world and may represent the oldest and most original form of human language. It is a language based on vibration, and is extremely precise, both in meaning and sound. Sanskrit is the language upon which yoga was built; from ancient spiritual texts, to mantras, to asana names.
This workshop will be an exciting exploration of mantras and the sanskrit language, focusing on attaining correct pronunciation through the understanding of the mouth positions. You will learn the basics of chanting and the sanskrit alphabet.
“The extraordinary thing about Sanskrit is that it offers direct accessibility by anyone to that elevated plane where the two, mathematics and music, brain and heart, analytical and intuitive, scientific and spiritual become one.” – Vyaas Houston
The Jewels of the Lotus
Deconstructing some of the most challenging poses in the Primary Series. Are you intimidated or struggling with Marychiasana D, Bhujapidasana, or Supta Kurmasana? You’re not the only one! This workshop is structured to alleviate the anxiety and fear that can come to the surface when we think of practicing these challenging asana. We will discuss the fundamental principles of these asanas and develop a safe and effective plan to take the posture, or prepare the body for the posture one day!
What is yoga really? This workshop is an exploration of the source text of Yoga. By looking at the philosophical context out of which yoga techniques have arisen, we can gain deep insight into the yogic search for meaning. This workshop will help you understand the traditional framework that inspires the ashtanga yoga practice. It will help you see how these practices can have a profound transformative effect in your daily life.
Core, jumping back and jumping through
We will explore how to utilize the full strength of the torso and bandhas to support our body weight. This will facilitate the smooth transition of energy necessary for graceful jump backs and jump throughs. We will also explore the spine as a smooth chain for the rolling poses in the second half of primary series.
